Lotus flower granny square | free crochet pattern

Inspiration for crochet squares can be found in many different places. From social media (like the Hashtag granny square) to the beach (the Sand dollar square), inspiration is everywhere! The Lotus flower granny square was the very first square I designed for the collaborative book, Crochet Tiles. And as the title suggests, the inspiration for the crochet squares was ceramic tiles!

The tile I was initially inspired by was a Spanish tile in beautiful blues and greens. However, I wanted my design to have a more floral granny square feel, and to transport you to Morocco, with it’s intricate petal details and rich jewel tones.

While I initially designed this pattern in darker tones, I have also worked up the Lotus flower granny square in a few other colorways (pictured further down) including a soft spring palette and a Christmassy color scheme. The latter has a likeness to Poinsettias, also known as the Christmas eve flower.

  2. Today, on December 7th, I completed the form to receive the email for the Lotus Square. I tried 2 x’s earlier today and have checked both my spam and inbox folders. As of 11:35 PM, I have yet to get the email. I intend to try one more time before the timing expires for the pattern. I appreciate your time and involvement in this marvelous Advent Crochet .
